Being part of the gang

Everyone wants to feel like they belong to a gang, be it friends, family or work colleagues!!

We spend a lot of time at work so it makes sense that we should try to make this an enjoyable time!!

Positive people tend to get more done as they tend to see quick wins as a way of getting stuff done!!  A positive & supportive team environment makes happy motivated staff!! Happy staff also become advocates for your business, selling it in a good light to friends & family, a free extended sales force.

This can be achieved by the people in the team but also by the physical environment of the workplace.  Is your office/workplace a nice place to spend time?  Is it inspiring?  What could you do to make it a nicer place to work?

Not even the most diligent staff member can be productive all of the time, everyone needs down time so why not give your team a place to do this within the office?!?

I know plenty of businesses who have created creative/thinking corners with bean bags, games and stationery for staff to use when they want to get away from their desk!!  And some of the best ideas are thought of when in this area.

What about having a monthly creative challenge?  This can be anything from finding a funny video on YouTube which is related to your business or giving staff a £1 to see who can buy the most innovated thing that represents your business.

I follow the Fish! Philosophy practices in my business, these are four simple inter-connected practices that not only help to improve culture in the workplace but can also improve sales & customer service.

The principles are:

  • Play
  • Make their day
  • Be there/present
  • Choose your attitude

Over the coming weeks & months I will be exploring these more in blog posts & show how they can really help businesses grow & become more profitable.

Check out The Fish Philosophy for more info or just give me a call and we can have a chat over coffee?
